Summary: Fu You and Ma Gui forge the Hallows and an alliance. They might not agree on what it means.
This little piece felt very easy to write, especially after the last one. I suppose that's what happens when I have characters in my head who can think in a straight line, unlike some people. ::glares at woobie villain::
I feel a little bad for how I treated Ma Gui in this fic, he's so wrong about everything. But in a way he's not, because eventually, by the time we get to modern Haixing, it does kind of look like his fantasy. And in the end both visions are bad for Dixing. In Fu You's plan, which is more or less what happens at the end of episode 35 in the backstory, everyone goes back to their own habitats, and it just happens that this means that Dixing people have to go somewhere terrible. And in Ma Gui's vision there's this union of Human and Yashou that Dixingren aren't part of, which is more or less what happens in modern Haixing at the end of episode 40. Either way Ma Gui and Fu You aren't thinking about Dixing. Possibly because, bafflingly, neither of them are crushing on Shen Wei.Yet another geopolitical mess that could've been solved by a threesome.
And, hunh, apparently there's nothing else on AO3 in the Ma Gui/Fu You ship tag. Which is a little unfortunate, since this fic is not very romantic.
