The (untranslated) Demon's Bond sequel

I found a fairly detailed summary here:

Yep, it has all the romance that the original game was lacking.
Reactions:
1. There are routes for the antagonists! They look good too. For that reason alone I hope this game gets localized, this franchise is excellent with antagonist routes. I'd love to see Yachiyo and Shuu from their own perspectives.
2. The Chitose epilogue deals with the biggest problem I had with that route, that at the end she just follows him to Satsuma. In the epilogue it takes serious political developments for them to be able to live together, including a political reorganization that makes her clan leadership irrelevant and makes guarding Princess Yase unnecessary. And even with all that Chitose doesn't take for granted that Yukina will want to leave her friends and come live with him. (Chikage, you should learn from Granddad, he knows stuff.) It feels respectful in the way that I wanted.
3. I had mixed feelings about the wedding in the Kazuya route, on the one hand it was cute but on the other hand I really liked the way they just go off together without getting married in the original.
4. I read the Shin epilogue looking for some redeeming feature to make this slog of a route worthwhile...and apparently he is a pacifist? I am not sure how that could even work in this universe. Or is it just that he doesn't do swords? Interesting, anyway.
5. The Kazutake epilogue has this scene where he spars with her and it ends with that he likes that she's strong as long as he can be stronger so that he can protect her. Which is a not-bad summary of their dynamic, he learns to respect her strength as a warrior and she learns to accept his protection. I can see how from their perspectives this is a good compromise and they are happy together, even if it is very much not something I would want.
6. I liked the cute AU routes in which Yukina becomes Princess Yase before choosing a guy and then picks the one she wants. The Chitose and Kazuya routes just made me smile and even the Shin one was kind of cute, with them reading together all night.
A lot of the sequel seems to depend on Senkimaru's route, so I'll probably have more reactions once I've done that.

Date: 2019-09-12 02:35 pm (UTC)I'm just sitting here staring happily at the Chitose/Yukina CG on the AU route. It's so nice to for once see them happy.
