IkeSen Nobunaga route

I thought this was the best-written of the routes I've read so far, and it was definitely fun to read. The writers did a great job of showing-not-telling that Nobunaga is smart, determined and a great leader. They also filed off enough of his rough edges to make crushing on him feel like something a modern woman would plausibly do. Most of this route is a dubcon fantasy that they managed to write as silly rather than squicky. Nobunaga wants to sleep with MC right away. She's attracted to him too, and modern enough to consider sex for fun, but for reasons that aren't well explained she puts him off. Maybe she just wants to take things more slowly, or maybe she doesn't want to get too attached because she's still planning on going back to modern times in 3 months. Anyway he challenges her to a months-long strip Go tournament, every time he wins a game he gets to touch and kiss a different part of her body. It's pretty hot, and she clearly enjoys it. By the time the three months are up she's completely in love with him and saves his life *yet again*. In the end she does go back to the modern times, where she finds herself recorded in history books as the woman Nobunaga truly loved. So of course she has to go back. Nobunaga retires and lives 'as if he were dead' so that history can continue as it should have. They live happily after, end of story.

There's not much to overthink here but it was fun to read.

I just started the Hideyoshi route and I'm liking it so far. It seems like it's going to be about Hideyoshi trying to make space for love in his life when he's so overwhelmingly devoted to Nobunaga, which is a kind of character arc that interests me. One thing I liked a lot in this route is that she actually uses her fashion design skills to stop an assassination attempt because she was able to spot that there was something off with the clothes that Nobunaga was sent as a present. Then she goes to the market with Hideyoshi and has a great time explaining to him all the different kinds of cloth and learning about historical clothesmaking techniques that had always interested her. So I'm glad to finally see some payoff for her career. Hideyoshi himself seems sweet and earnest, and well, I have a type.

It was enjoyably silly.

Meanwhile I just finished SLBP Mitsuhide act 2 last night and it was wonderful. (I'll write a post about it soon when I have time.) I just this morning started SLBP Nobunaga because I need to see the other side of the story, but I'm a little dreading it. I think I'll take your approach of seeing the MC as the protagonist of her own tragedy, that might help.

Congrats on finishing SLBP Mitsuhide act 2! I'm glad it was good. :)

I'm in act 2 of Nobunaga and enjoying it a lot, though I think part of it is that I've gotten used to Nobunaga and completely dissociated from the MC. The character study and the exploration of the characters' ethics is excellent.

There's actually a possibility I may pick the happy AU ending now.
